"Suggest on hard keys" disables long key presses

Hey,

I'm using Smart Keyboard Pro on my Motorola Milestone with Android 2.0.1 and when enabling "suggest on hard keys" I can't long press the buttons of the hardware keyboard anymore which is badly needed e.g. for umlauts. Instead the letter on the key is being entered multiple times.

also there is no way to change the language of the suggestions when using the hardware keyboard

Hi,
I've also encountered this problem and finds it a bit frustrating.
I've turned on "suggest on hard keys" so that I can type words using A & O instead of Swedish Å,Ä &Ö, this works for like 90 % of the cases when there is a match in the dictionary. However sometimes there is'nt a match and then I can't write the words withthe hard keys since long key press has been disabled.

That's possible, as I never tested with a non-english keyboard... it may not be easy to fix but I will try to have a look when I have time

That would be great. I have no clue as on how hard it is to fix, but it seems a bit strange that having word suggestion is connected to long press function of the keyboard.
