I don't understand, it works for me... By the way the phone volume is not used by the keyboard, you have to set it in Smart Keyboard settings. Is everything set correctly there ?

I am having a similar problem where the Android sound style works, but not the iPhone sound style. Using Nexus One with stock firmware.

The keyboard uses a different method to play the iPhone sound, as it is not a builtin effect. However I never had problems with my HTC Hero, so I will wait for the Nexus One to test...

Keyboard sounds are system (not media or ringer) sounds, so maybe the volume of system sounds is somehow set to zero.
