Bug in 3.8.0?

After I enter a smile key (fyi, i've set them to ^^;; or =_=), a space is automatically added after the smile key.
So I have always pressed backspace to remove the additional space.
However, after upgrading to 3.8.0, when I press backspace the whole smiley goes away along with the space.

Well, it's actually a new feature from the Froyo keyboard, but I didn't think of this side effect
I will remove it for the next version

Or, perhaps, give us the option not to have the space inserted?
