Long Press Options

Post by hyperlite »

First off this is the best keyboard out there keep up the good work! I purchased pro and I have got several others to do the same.

I used Finger Keyboard 2.1 by XDA Developers for Windows Mobile on a Samsung Omnia and one of the great features of that keyboard was the option to modify how long it took for the keyboard to recognize a long press in milliseconds. It was nice because I am able to type very fast and speeding up the long press recognition would be a great addition to Smart Keyboard.

+1

I already suggested this and he responded that it would be implemented in the future. :)

First, thanks for adding this feature!

But along the same lines (I used to use the same keyboard as him) could you add the option of editing the long press key functions? For example, one of the most needed keys for me are _ (underscore) and ~ (tilde), and to get either I have to swipe over to the number page, then go to the alt page of that page.

Also when long pressing (mostly on the numbers) could you add the ability that when the long pressed preview comes up (say a number is shown) that if you then slide over to the next key it will type the first number and start initiating the long press on the next key, that way you wouldn't need to lift up between every number.

Edit: by the way, the 3.0 beta is working great so far.
