I think this would be a great little feature to add. Of course, hitting another space after the word insert would still have to add the period.

Auto-space after selecting from the suggestion bar
I've used other keyboards that offer the suggestion bar. One of the cool things I liked about them was when you selected one of the suggested words, the space would automatically be inserted after the word. This does not happen on Smart Keyboard and it causes some frustration if you forget and continue typing without hitting a space first.
