Skin Compatibility with ICS

I noticed that when I updated my phone to ICS most of the skins I have installed don't work anymore. well I guess I can't stay they don't work but instead of showing the buttons the keyboard is just all black with white letters. is this a compatibility issue that will be fixed in future updates of smart keyboard or do the skin themeres have to update their themes?
