I've been running the trial for a few days and prefer the keyboard to the default of my Galaxy S2, but there is an obstacle I need to get pass before purchase. By default a long-press of any letter enters the symbol assigned to that key, but as I often enter foreign letters (å, ä, ö, ø, æ, and so on) I'd like the standard 'alternative letters pop-up' of Android or iOS instead. Naturally I switch input language when I write a longer message, but I often want to enter one or two letters quickly; addresses, names, etc. I've already disabled the minature symbol that shows up on top of the letter keys, but a long-press still enters that symbol.

That's the default only if you use "English International" layout, so why do you use this instead of the normal "English" layout?

Thanks for the quick reply. Where do I change the layout? The overall Android setting are at English (UK), and under Smart Keyboard I've selected

- English as the current language
- plain English as an input language, along with the other languages I use

I still don't see the alternative letters on long press. Also, I'd like to use UK English as my default English.

Ah sorry I thought you didn't want these foreign letters! So the answer is the opposite: you just have to use "English (International)" and not English

Sorry, but I don't get it. Under Smart Keyboard settings I go to Language and set:

- Current language to English (International)
- Enable English (International) under the Language selection key, along with the other languages I use

And I still don't have the 'alternative letter pop-up'. I've tried this with both English (UK) and English (International). Can you explain what I more I need to change?

Also, what is actually the difference between International and UK English, and if I can use the above with UK English? I assume plain English is US English.

So maybe you changed the option "Force latin layout" to "English"? Because for sure if you really use "English (International)" layout, you have all the European accented letters available in the popup.
"English (UK)" is just the same as "English" except that you have pound symbol directly accessible instead of dollar.

That was it. Force latin layout was set to <Default> and changing that to English (International) enabled the pop-up of accented letters. Switching to English (UK) doesn't allow for accented letters, and I do use £ more than $, but even that is a rarity. Assume there's no way to have the £ symbol directly accessible, and have accented letters?

In any case, great service mate, you've got two new customers; my Market purchase was just made and I'll sort out my girlfriends phone tonight (the standard ZTE Blade keyboard ain't fun).
