Auto-changing characters within words?

Post by Alg »

Hey y'all.
I have a small question, I've searched the board but couldn't find this subject being discussed anywhere. I use the Pro ver. with Polish dictionary. The problem is that here in Poland when we text using our local characters such as ą ę etc. the limit of characters per text message gets decreased drastically, so we tend to text without these characters. Is there a way that the app could change automatically jeść to jesc etc. and still be able to give T9 suggestions? I've tried changing ó -> o, ł -> l etc. in custom auto-text but that changes it only when I type the letter alone, when it's within a word nothing happens. Is there a way to do it somehow? A macro maybe? Would help a lot. Other than that the kb rules :)

Hello
this has been asked here too.
Short answer is: try to check if handcent SMS does it ;) otherwise it's still in my todo list, anyway

thanks for your answer. I'll just have to wait then, because Handcent supports Greek, Czech and Spanish :)

That's the only missing feature which stops me from finally ditching HTC_IME mod after it became unmaintained, and getting the paid version. That, and the Polish dictionary is not very useful right now because it does not have inflected word forms, but that one won't stop me, I can add them as I go (would be nice if it wasn't necessary though)
