Custom AutoText Unable to Remap Certain Words

the autotext feature is a great way to prevent common mistakes that i make with the keyboard. in fact it has helped me fix poor auto suggestion words such as te-tea, to te-the.
there is a problem with certain words that it wont work with. it appears that something is overriding the autotext feature. for example:
1. i want to remap hoe-how. with this script active, typing hoe-Joe. i have even added Joe-how, and then typing Joe-Joe. nothing seems to work.
2. i want tha-that's (the default is tha-that). when i enter the scritpt, i get tha-that. the script seems to have no affect.
other words and scripts work fine, such as h-he, s-she.
can you explain why it will not work with certain scripts?
thanks cyril
