Japanese input bug:cursor goes to new line after Kanji selec

Post by rfkhan »

I have just installed smartkeyboard. I am using Xperia X10 with Android 1.6.

I am using it for writting Japanese. There is a small problem when writing Japanese. Here is the explanation:

Example 1 : I want to input a Japanese character に (ni), when using my PC keyboard after pressing "n and i" and then "Enter" will write に while the cursor remains on same line , but in case of smartkeyboard pressing "Enter" will write "に" but also move the cursor to new line which is annoying. I hope i made my problem clear.

Example 2: I want to write Oosaka in japanese. After typing "oosaka" several option for Oosaka Kanji appears and I use the space bar to go to the correct option. After reaching the correct Kanji for oosaka "大阪" I have to press "Enter" to select it. The Kanji is inserted correctly but again the cursor move to new line.

Please fix it. Or if there is already some solution then please guide me to that.

Thanks

Hi I have a similar problem when trying to select kanji with my hardware keyboard on my T-mobile G2/Desire Z phone.

When I write a word and want to select the kanji with spacebar, it only creates a space, rather than selecting the first suggested kanji as is normal with Japanese IMEs and with Smart keyboard when used in soft keyboard mode.

Is there a way around this?
Apart from this single but quite disruptive bug, smart keyboard is fantastic! I especially love the use of '.com' key as a way to toggle between languages!!

Thank you, and I hope you can help with this issue :)
