When using long tap and selecting a character in Arabic, I get the incorrect character many times eventhough the correct letter was highlighted before lifting my finger. This happens at least 3 out of 10 tries if not more.

Yes this is a problem someone also reported today (though it has been there for months!)
Try with this version, it should fix the problem
