WEIRD bug entering adresses in the email to: field

Post by maltop »

I use the latest version of Smart Keyobard pro. I use the Galaxy Nexus with the latest version of Android. The bug is a little complicated so bare with me as I try to explain it.

I am trying to send an email (using default gmail app) to one of my contacts Jim Macdonald. I go into the to: field of the email to type in "jim macdonald". I type the letter "j". "j" shows up in the to field, and in the suggestion box. No problem so far.
So I try to type the second letter "i". "ji" appears in the suggestion box, but in the to: field i know have : "jji"! (j+ ji) If I type "m" the next letter, in the suggestion box I have "jim" but in the :to field I have "jjijim'. (j+ji+jim)
If I hit backspace in my Jim example when I have the word "jjijim" typed in it will, delete one letter (jim - m = ji) and the remainder of the word "ji" will again be added. So now I have the word "jjijiji"(j+ji+ji+ji) Each letter I type or remove or adds the remainder of the current word (the word currently active in the suggestion field) to the email to: field! If I type h-e-l-l-o, I would get hhehelhellhello.
If I click on the suggested word in the suggestion box, it just adds that word to the selected field, but keeps the mess there.

Please help as this makes email unusable, or the app unusable. I have tried changing text entry settings, removing one, trying it, putting it back, removing another and try it again. I can't find the setting that fixes this. Of course I have rebooted the phone and tried re-installing the app, and of course this bug is specific to this keyboard, it does not happen with any other keyboard.

All help is greatly appreciated.

I have had the exact same issue on a Nexus with ICS.

I have found that when i delete back to the first letter and pause, it works normally for that session.

This is the only priblem i have had on ICS with this keyboard.

This problem is fixed in version 4.6.0.

It still doesn't work for languages such as Korean, as Google broke Gmail so badly that it's very difficult to make it work in all situations. However it should work for most languages, including in T9.

It is working fine on my phone now, except for in compact QWERTY the XT9 will not go green so the compact QWERTY is almost useless (this is not how it behaved before).

Thanks!

T9 and XT9 modes cannot work any more in the "To" field due to the changes Google did in Gmail. Note that you can still use multitap, so compact keyboard is not useless.
If you don't like that, complain to Google, not to me ;)

I'm actually still having this exact same bug, despite running on v4.6.1 of the paid app.

I usually restore the app and its associated data through Titanium Backup, which I thought might be an issue.

However, even after a fresh reinstall of the app, I still have the same issue crop up with the default keyboard style (which leads me to believe that none of preferred customizations are to blame).

What can I do to get the bugfix to work on my device?

My Gmail version shows as v4.0.1-228551, in case that is helpful.
