Hi, on version 1.4.2 (and earlier versions) when I hit the enter button on the physical keyboard it sends a message twice, with the default keyboard that doesnt happen.

als when I hit "ALT" on the physical keyboard it doesnt show the upside down triangle on top (as opposed to the shift button with the triangle on bottom of the cursor)

I'll look at this "enter" thing, there was the same problem with the soft keyboard but it was "solved" by displaying simileys instead of the enter key
As for the triangle on Alt key, I spent 2 hours trying to make it work and thought it was not worth the pain...

Alright the alt thing was just nice to have

And looking around I have seen the soft keyboard enter nwas with a replacement messaging app, but mine goes it w the default... just lettin u know

Several people report this on the market, but I can't reproduce by any means... with which app / settings does this happen ?

Anyone here having this problem ? I'd like to know with which app it happens, otherwise I will not be able to fix it

I'm getting this problem! I'm running Pete's 2.1 ROM and I'm using the built in Droid messaging app. Only when I'm using the physical keyboard does it do this.

Hmm that's the most incredible part! What happens is that when you enable the "suggest on hard keys" feature, my keyboard intercepts all the keystrokes, including the enter key, so it may explain why something different would happen (though I'm still not able to reproduce this with the emulator !!)
But if you tell me that it also happen with the "Send" key (you mean the one of the messaging app, right?), I don't see how the problem could come from my keyboard, as it doesn't even receive this event (the click on "Send" goes directly to the messaging app)...

I too am having a problem with this. I have found that it only double sends when I am using the physical keyboard, have the word suggestions option on, and use the physical enter key to send the message.

... this is using the standard 2.0.1 messaging app on the Moto Droid.

Hmmm ok actually it's a bug in Android 2.0... I don't have it with Android 1.6...
