Google search widget and Smart Keyboard Pro

Post by Decimus »

I've been using the free version of the Smart Keyboard. Tonight I uninstalled it and purchased the pro version via SlideMe as the Google Aps store in HK does not cater for paid apps yet.

I am using a nexus one.

I am seeing some odd behaviour when using the Google search widget which by default is on the home page of the nexus one. It doesn't always happen and that is the bit I have not figured out yet....

Sometimes when I try to type a search into the search widget, the widget disappears just leaving the keyboard. You only get to see what you have typed in only when you exit the keyboard and the Google search widget then re-apears. Its as if when the keyboard pops up it pushes the Google search widget up above the screen.

Other times its as if there is a hidden line return, so say you input "'nexus one" and were then deleting what you had put in.... then it is as if just the top of the letters are being deleted.

Hope that is helpful

Hi Cyril

Its in portrait mode. I never tried using the Google search widget with the free version. I was just playing last night having removed the free version and having purchased the Pro version. Just so you know, the keyboard works fine with Google search via the normal web page.

BTW I think you have done a fantastic job with smart keyboard. I am loving my Nexus One. The one BIG failure and biggest disappointment is the virtual keyboard. I never really liked the i-phone version having moved from more traditional phones which had a built in keyboard like a Blackberry and Nokia e71. That said the i-phone virtual keyboard once you get used to it surpasses the Nexus One virtual keyboard. I think your smart keyboard levels the playing field. Great work. It would be great also if the Android market opened up paid apps so you don't have to use 3rd party SlideMe.
