Space switches to ABC

I frequently must enter data in the form: 585 241 170
With Smart Keyboard Pro, the spacebar always switches from the 123 or Alt keyboard back to ABC. This is rarely - never - the behavior I prefer.
Perhaps this could be controlled by a configuration option?
