New Version 2.0.0 Bugs

Post by musashiken »

Eh, wonder if it's alright if I start a thread on feedbacks of the latest 2.0.0 version.

- Keyboard seems more laggy than earlier versions. While typing quickly with auto-correction on, space presses seem to lag in between words. Now the experience is rather worse for me as spaces seem to hang before registering. Using Nexus One Stock.

Hi
lags are not due to the keyboard, but to low memory. Try to reboot your phone and/or free some memory with something like Task Killer

Actually you're right, there are lags after space presses. I think it has something to do with the smart dictionary as disabling it seems to solve the lag or make it less noticiable at least.

And since it's always and only with the space key, it's keyboard related for sure.

Hope it gets fixed, the Spanish dictionary is so-so and I was looking forward the smart features in 2.0. Thanks!

EDIT: It's an HTC Desire, so memory should not be a problem. Tried after reboot also. Always have auto-completion turned off.

Yes, with the smart dictionary, each time you press space, a database has to be updated, which has a performance cost. It should not be noticeable (especially on the Desire!) but I can work on improvements

Thanks for your quick answer, maybe it's better to update the database after a carriage return, or even just after closing the keyboard. It would also fix an issue with the smart dictionary adding words that I mispelled. After writing a couple of words more, when I realize the mistake and go back to correct it, the wrong word was already in the database and remains there.

Anyway it should be fixed in 2.1.0, the database update is now done in the background, so it should not slow down the keyboard any more

Yay, the new version is so much speedier. Thanks! Typing is a breeze now.

Sure, no lags now, thanks for the quick update!

However I'm still disabling the smart dictionary because my user dictionary now has more mispelled words than correct words (and some duplicates btw). The issue is that I type pretty fast and I realize mistakes after writting a couple of words or more, so when I go back to correct the mistake, the mispelled word has already been added to the dictionary.

Actually mispelled words should not be suggested in many cases, but I understand that can be a problem.
But I can easily add an option to disable the automatic addition to the user dictionary.
