Lots of people are posting that they NEED the mic button for their N1 and it's a bit frustrating that they haven't posted it here so I'll take the initiative. If it has been posted and I just didn't notice it then kudos for that person. Personally I don't need the mic button since it's already on handcent and I hardly use it anyway. It would be nice to integrate the mic button into the keyboard to improve ratings and to fulfill many users' wishes.

Hi !
I will repeat myself, but I am perfectly aware that a lot of people are asking this since the beginning and there are good reasons why it's not there:
- I don't own a Nexus one so there is no way at all for me to develop this, as I cannot test
- It will imply giving the "internet access" permission to the app. This is a security breach, but if everyone wants it, it's not really my problem...
BUT
I just received a mail from Google... so they will hopefully send me a Nexus one, as Smart Keyboard has been downloaded more than 5000 times and has a rating > 3.5 !! So thanks to you all I may be able to develop this feature, finally

Wow! That's great! This obviates my recent suggestion that we take up a collection to help you buy an N-1
... although I'm still willing to donate to you, if this N-1 deal from Google somehow falls through.
As for the network security issue, voice access could always be made into an option for those who don't want to take the risk. Or you can even make two versions of the app, one with android.permission.INTERNET enabled in AndroidManifest, and one without this permission setting.
In any case, I'm eager to see voice input. Also, I want to reiterate my earlier request for a setting to cause voice input to be optionally be initiated via a swipe, so we can avoid the screen real estate of a mic key, if we so choose.
... and keep up the good work on this excellent app!

It's too much work to maintain two versions.. so I will add this feature for everyone. It should be there within 2 weeks
