I think there should be an option to add a close keyboard arrow between the 123 key and the space bar on the left side, instead of a comma or no key at all. And also between the domain key and the space bar in the browser, instead of a forward slash. Both the comma key and the forward slash are already present in the keyboard, and the swipe down to close the keyboard is hard to do without adding characters, a simple close keyboard down arrow option would be perfect. I believe it's on the standard keyboard.

On my original Moto Droid, my back button makes the keyboard go back down. Hope this helps.

or just use a gesture down to close the keyboard, Its what i do.
