Hey there,

My suggestion is probably a very little and easy feature to implement, but will be of great service to many of us!

I'm aiming this suggestion at the T9-layout.
As you all know, Smart Keyboard learns the use of your words, it counts how much you use a specific word and suggests it over other words that can be combined using the same keys (in T9).

Now, it would be great to have that learning ability for letters as well! As example, 'k' in is the sms abbrevation of 'me' in dutch, and is used in almost every text message. However, when I press the JKL button, Smart Keyboard suggests the J (first letter of the key) always over the K.

I guess you all get what I'm trying to say, and this was just one example of many.

PS: This feature is already implemented in the English dictionary for just one letter: the I !

I agree - this could be a useful feature in the compact qwerty as well. I tried adding a single letter to the user dictionary but it doesn't work.

this looks like a swiftkey feature.

But I found a way to do it !
in autotext do this:
j -> k

Indeed the autotext is currently the only way to simulate addition of a 1-letter word in the dictionary, and indeed it's something I need to add for T9. Another item in the (long) todo list

Just curious, what makes it so difficult to implement a single letter - considering there is already a user dictionary? i.e., why does a single letter added to the user dictionary not get accepted?

I don't know much about programming of this sort so wasn't sure.

Well, the short answer is: it's not difficult
What is difficult is to find time to implement easy things, when you have more than 70 items in your TODO list

Maybe you could give priority to the little, easier things to implement & start adding new great features after that?

But anyway, not trying to criticize your work, as I'm really loving your keyboard

I can certainly understand about having too long of a TODO list! What I meant was, if the user dictionary is already in place, then why doesn't adding a single letter there get automatically recognized as a "word" and show up as the default in the suggestion tray? i.e., why would this work for a 2 letter word but not a 1 letter "word" ?
