Access to accented characters anytime

Well, I would almost rate this as a bug! You must be able to access accented characters (éèa) etc independent of language setting. This works on almost all other keyboards. If I am using the swedish keyboard and typing the word "éntre", how do I do it? You really shouldn't restrict this to french or other languages. The same if I'm using the english keyboard and wants to type the swedish name "Björn".

Well, most people would rate your proposition as a bug ;)

If you want to stick with a single layout with (almost) all the accented characters available, you should use the "force latin layout" option, and set it to "english (international)"

Well, if what I'm asking for is working in vertical T9 mode (T9 disabled), why couldn't it work the same way in QWERTY mode?

Good point. Actually I didn't implement a dedicated T9 layout for swedish, so I used... "English International" layout in that case, that's why you have all the accents there, so it's a useful bug for you ;)

Just wanted to say that I agree with Tobbe68 that it's annoying that I can't access accented characters from the Norwegian keyboard - not even the ones that are used in Norwegian! I really like the Smart Keyboard, but I too would consider it a bug that I can't get the accented letters. I have actually gone back to the orignal keyboard because of this ... I need things like è, ó and ô, and these and many more are used in correct Norwegian (and other Scandinavian languages). Using the English international keyboard is not really an option because it's too important to have Norwegian characters like æ, ø and å as separate keys.

Here in Scandinavia we are used to have lots of accents available on computer keyboards also, whereas most English keyboards don't have this. So when cyril says that "most people would rate your proposition as a bug", he should keep in mind that Scandinavians may have a completely different view and background. Normal keyboards for us would be named "international" in many other countries. This is one of the very few flaws with the Smart Keyboard, but I think it's more important than cyril seems to think, so I wish he'd take it seriously ...

Then it's another story... I don't want the keyboard to be bloated with useless accents, that's why there are only the "official" ones in the Norwegian keyboard. If you tell me that "ô" for instance is widely used in Norwegian (and not just because you are mixing languages), it would be a good reason to add it, but I'm quite sure that you don't need Polish diacritics for instance... So give me a list of accents that would be legitimate in a scandinavian keyboard, and I will add them.
