Long Press Key Preview

Post by OKK77 »

In HTC Touch Input, a long press on a key will change the preview of the input from the original letter to the alternative symbol/number. That is, if I press on "a" and hold, the preview will change from "a" to "@".

Will it be tedious to implement? Thanks!

Hi
I know... I had a look and this needs rewriting of a critical part of the code, so at the moment it's not my priority as it's not worth the risk / time spent to fix this properly

Well, glad to see this addressed here at least once. I'd like to also suggest this feature. I'm loving the speed of Smart Keyboard but it trips me up every time I need punctuation because I need to look up from the keyboard to the text input to check when the punctuation is entered. Having the preview popup change after the long press would be wonderful.

I can definitely understand your hesitation if it's indeed buried in some fragile code. Just wanted to add another vote and maybe boost the priority a little bit ;).

Thanks!

While it's certainly not urgent, this is definitely a feature I'd like to see implemented as well.

Second that but only if it doesn't come at the cost of speed and stability.
