This is still a problem. Does anybody read the forums? More information on the bug: HTC has a very similar (identical) compact keyboard that doesn't have this problem. The difference in how they operate is that the HTC keyboard makes a character and selects it for a moment, so that the next key type...

In a normal text box, the Compact Keyboard works fine - For example, pressing the [OP] key once gives you "O", twice gives you "P", even when tapped very fast. In text boxes that have suggestions, however, you cannot easily get to the second letter! For example - my email address...
