In XT9 (compact) view, letters äö should be combined with letter l since they appear right of l on Finnish keyboards and no other key is assigned with l.

T9 mode should have similar prediction logic as the full keyboard mode has. If you type a word that Smart keyboard doesn't find in dictionary it should try to auto-correct some keypresses and look again for the words in the dictionary. Apostrophe is not really used in Finnish language (except for some very rare occassions). Therefore I suggest . and : to be placed under key 1 and perhaps () to the key where comma sits now.
